The
Neighborhood
Here
is what Out and About travel magazine says about our neighborhood,
Montorgueil:
"Centered around the rue Montorgueil in the second arrondissement
is an up-and-coming gayish neighborhood that is a great place to
shop like a local, with more of an IKEA crowd than circuit queens.
Stop in at Stohrer (51 rue Montorgueil, 2e), the oldest patisserie
in Paris, where Baba au Rhum was invented. Go on to La Fromagerie
(8 rue Montorgueil) to choose from a zillion cheeses, and then,
if adventurous, cross the street to J. Davin (9 rue Montorgueil)
to buy horse meat by the kilo or some of those cute rabbits hanging
up. If cooking is not on the agenda, eat at Le Rocher de Cancale
(78 rue Montorgueil; 01 42 33 50 29; 9-15 Euro), an old-time seafood
restaurant where Balzac and Moliere hung out, or sit at any cafe'
on the street to watch typical Parisian neighborhood life."
